Assistant Football Team Lead
I helped lead my team in covering weekly football games through photo galleries, live posts, score updates, recap reels, and our season documentary. Each week, we held class meetings to plan and assign game-day responsibilities in detail. I assisted teammates with creating game graphics, editing photos, and producing social media content to ensure comprehensive and engaging coverage.
President Indiana High School Press Association Student Board
I lead the student board in advocating for the passage of Indiana’s New Voices legislation and in organizing statewide student journalism events and workshops. Each week, we held meetings to plan initiatives and assign responsibilities in detail. I assisted board members with coordinating events, communicating with students and advisors, and supporting efforts to engage and grow our membership.
Team Lead, Community Messaging Campaign
I helped lead my team in publicizing and covering school events that were important for the community to know about. Each week, we held meetings to plan coverage and assign responsibilities in detail. I assisted teammates with capturing photos and video, creating social media content, and ensuring that all messaging was clear, timely, and engaging.
Team Lead, City of Fishers Externship
I led our externship team while staying in constant communication with Stephanie Perry to ensure projects were directed effectively. We coordinated and executed video production and coverage of city initiatives, holding regular meetings to plan responsibilities and workflows. I supported my team in filming, editing, and delivering high-quality content while keeping communication smooth and organized.
Creative Lead, The ORB News Magazine
I assist my staff in creating diverse and visually engaging magazine spreads while also helping design online story layouts. Each week, we hold planning sessions to outline assignments and provide guidance on creative direction. I support teammates in developing eye-catching content that reflects our magazine’s style and engages our audience across print and digital platforms.
Quill & Scroll Student Advisory Board
I collaborated with a diverse board of students from across the United States to create social media posts and bell ringers that inform students about various journalistic topics and tips. We also shared ideas and learned from one another during our monthly meetings.
Newsroom
Each month, our staff comes together for team dinners and a field trip to foster community and connection. We make an effort to accommodate everyone’s schedule so that each experience becomes a meaningful memory for the entire team.
The following section includes presentations I shared with my classmates and at conventions to improve our class’s understanding of specific topics and the overall structure of our program. These presentations were created to help us learn from one another as journalists and to show people outside of our department what works well for us. I have revised these multiple times, as my process and creative approach continue to evolve over time.
Over my time at HSE, I have worked with several staff members and coaches. Below are a few testimonials from clients that discuss our impact on their programs and how my team functioned.
"This semester was my first experience working with a student Public Relations team, and I have been truly impressed. Your efforts in promoting our school in such a positive and professional manner have made a significant impact. The creativity, dedication, and attention to detail you’ve shown have not only elevated our image but have also made my job easier. Thank you for setting such a high standard and for being an outstanding representation of our school community." -Dr. McCaffrey (HSE Principal)
Our season, regardless of wins/losses, would not have been the same without your group. You all added an extra element of fun, and you all were asking questions about what our plans were, where you should be, and what to look for, and as a coach, that shows me the desire for you guys to be great, no matter the landscape. Is my opinion biased, maybe, but you all are, without a doubt, the best group of media kids I think there could possibly be, not only in the state but possibly across the country. Teams and schools would die for a group like you guys. Thankful to have been along for the ride. -Garret Hudson (Football Coach)
"I think the team did great with helping get the information for HOCO out to the students and community. The communication with the executive board of Student Council was great, and having a team helping with PR was really helpful for our organization. The pictures and videos are amazing. :)" -Bridgette Joseph (HSE Homecoming Sponsor)
"The HSE PR team has been an invaluable resource for me as the staff sponsor for Rugby. There are not enough of us nor enough funds for us to run this program as it should be run, and without the HSE PR team, we would not be able to give these athletes the recognition they deserve. The HSE PR team has been hard-working, accountable, and very, very easy to work with. We greatly appreciate their outstanding talent and effort." -Courtney Lawhead (HSE Boys Mudsock Rugby)
