As a staff, we maintain a rubric packet to hold each other accountable for deadlines, production cycles, and final products. We also grade ourselves based on state guidelines, including a category for news and literacy. Below, I have attached an example of our packets. As a lead, I track peers and staff members who are not following state or class ethics. We have also developed an AI policy to ensure we remain ethical and transparent with our audience, providing clear examples of how we use AI to assist our work rather than create it.
To ensure our information is accurate, cohesive, and properly formatted, we created a caption template. We have refined this template over time to best fit different circumstances. As a social media lead, I review and correct every caption before it is posted on our account. When other social media leads make mistakes, I go back and edit our work to ensure it is factual and up to date.
As a member of the Quill and Scroll Student Board, we have launched our campaign for Scholastic Journalism Week. One part of this campaign involves planning posts to raise awareness about copyright, factual reporting, and celebrations among staffs. Below, I have attached our working planning sheet, which is still a work in progress as we continue putting together the final products.
